"We found animation the only viable and still powerful option.

There are many things enacting putting on a condom or depicting sexual relations between partners from these three high-risk groups that we could not find actors for," said Dr S Kudalkar, programme director for MDACS.

"It is a unique concept. We've never used animation for Aids awareness. The seriousness of the topic is conveyed well.

We have also got full approval from National Aids Control Organisation on the matter," said Kudalkar. He added that the films would not be broadcast for the general public, as the images might seem pornographic.

Researchers spent a week with each of the groups to do justice to the script. The films have been made in Hindi, English and Marathi. They will be screened today at Shanmukhananda Hall for over 2,000 guests.
