With the NCP and Congress losing power in the state, ministers of the erstwhile Democratic Front government are increasingly finding themselves in trouble.

After NCP leader and former revenue minister of state Suresh Dhas, a former Congress minister from Vidarbha is likely to come under the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) scanner for alleged irregularities in a department handled by him.

ACB Mumbai has registered a case against officer bearers of Birla Shloka Education Limited, Zenith Software Limited and Core Education and Technologies Limited for allegedly conniving with officials of the social justice department and causing losses of up to Rs 17 crore to the government on the pretext of giving e-learning training.

The ACB has registered a case against Ravindra Indulkar, regional head of Birla Shloka Education; Guruprasad Krishnamurthi, vice-president of Zenith Software; and Raju Pande, vice-president of Core Education and Technologies.

ACB sources said the three companies had applied for a contract of giving e-learning training to students in government hostels in the state to develop their computer skills.

"The accused got the contract by bribing the government agencies, social justice department employees and some high-level people," said an ACB official. "We have registered a case against the men and unknown government employees and you will see further developments soon."

Sources said Rs 24 crore was sanctioned for the programme and 70% of the funds had been released. They said most of the money was siphoned off by the employees of the companies as well as government officials, and an FIR has been registered in the matter.
