In order to keep the area around the water pipelines encroachment free, the civic body had proposed a cycling track, which has been stuck owing to several encroachments. The project is estimated to cost around R300 crore. On a pilot basis, the civic body had announced that it would be opening a one-km-long stretch from Mulund boundary of the Tansa pipeline to Silverbell CHS by Diwali.

However, work on the track has far from begun. When contacted, Additional Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee, said, "The stretch will be ready by December 31."
