Babasaheb Ravan Thoke (38), a BMC contractor, was enjoying a cup of tea outside the Bandra Court yesterday when a man wearing a black T-shirt and black trousers attacked him with a sickle. Thoke managed to flee from the spot after the attack, but the assailant chased and beheaded him inside a BMC pump house plot nearby.
According to Rahim Sheikh, senior police inspector, Nirmal Nagar police station, "The tea stall owner said the assailant was about 35 years old and had tied a white handkerchief around his face. It looks like a case of revenge killing. We have narrowed down a list of suspects."
Thoke had married Chandrakala after his first two wives died. The needle of suspicion points to Chandrakala's ex-husband, said sources.
