Even after being forced to cancel several ceremonies due to master blaster's busy schedule, civic body fixes a November date for another such event without obtaining his consent
The BMC appears to find it impossible to curb its enthusiasm, especially when it comes to weaving fantasies of the master blaster's presence at its functions.
There were plans to felicitate Sachin after the World Cup win,
but his schedule was packed, said a BMC official
Getting ahead of itself yet again, the BMC higher ups have fixed an early November date to felicitate Sachin Tendulkar, without obtaining the nod from him.
At a meeting last week, the BMC bigwigs decided to felicitate Tendulkar on November 5, along with some other prominent Maharashtrian personalities.
An official said, "A cultural event will accompany the mayor's fund raising programme, wherein these personalities will be felicitated. The date has been fixed for November 5.

Yet again, the authorities have not consulted the matter with Tendulkar before fixing the date for the programme.

There have been several instances in the past when ceremonies had to be cancelled owing to his fluctuating schedule."
He added, "The venue for the ceremony will either be the grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex, or the Kamgar Ground in Elphinstone Road."
Earlier this year, the mayor had made plans to felicitate Tendulkar in May or June, but the event did not materialise owing to the latter's packed schedule.
A senior BMC official said on condition of anonymity, "It is necessary to find out when he is free before fixing the date. The programme is being organised to raise funds for the poor."
The Other Side
Mayor Shraddha Jadhav said, "The venue is yet to be decided. Once that is done, we would invite Sachin Tendulkar for the programme, after discussing the dates with him."
