It's been three months since Prithviraj Chavan was sworn in as the chief ministeru00a0of Maharashtra but he still hasn't been able to make his presence known at the BMC headquarters, quite literally.
Chavan took over the post of CM on November 2010, but the BMC seems to be living in the past as the civic body has failed to acquire a single picture of the new CM.

According to tradition, the new CM is supposed to have his picture displayed on the walls of the party office on the first floor of the BMC headquarters.
The portraits of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, followed by Ashok Chavan, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Vilasrao Deshmukh, Murli Deora and Gurudas Kamat adorn the wall. But Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is conspicuous by his absence
In an attempt to follow custom, corporators were asked to arrange a picture of Chavan.
Surprisingly, the corporators claimed that they were unable to find his picture owing which Chavan has not made it to the walls.

Ironically, Chavan's picture is available on every search engine online and media houses have received pictures of the CM from Mantralaya.
When MiD DAY spotted the absence of the picture and brought it to the notice of Vinod Shekhar, a Congress corporator, he said, "It seems no one paid attention to it. I will immediately get it rectified."
MiD DAY noticed that the former CM Ashok Chavan still has his picture displayed on the walls of the BMC headquarters.

His picture is displayed next to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, PM Manmohan Singh, followed by Ashok Chavan, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Vilasrao Deshmukh, Murli Deora, Gurudas Kamat and Kripashankar Singh.

On January 13, MiD DAY, and other media houses, received a letter from the Chief Minister's office, asking us to use this picture of Prithviraj Chavan to go with any stories related to him. Strange that they did not send the same picture to the BMC. Seems appearing presentable in the media is a priority here!
