The BMC is trying to convince the men who matter in the state government to declare July 24 as a holiday to prevent loss of life and ensure that people are not stranded at stations

The BMC wants the state government to declare a holiday on July 24 because it expects the tide to be as high as it was during the July 26, 2005, deluge. The tide is expected to be more than 4.48 metres high and will be at its peak at 2 pm.

The BMC is trying to convince the men who matter in the state government to declare July 24 as a holiday to prevent loss of life and ensure that people are not stranded at stations. The decision in this matter will be taken tomorrow. Even if the state government does not agree, the BMC will send SMSes to Mumbaikars and ask them to stay indoors.
