Two dogs were cruelly beaten to death by two youths in Bandra's Chimbai village last week. Both dogs were taken to the SPCA, but succumbed to their injuries. An FIR was registered against the unknown perpetrators at Bandra Police Station on Friday night by Pooja Sakpal, a member of YODA (Youth Organisation in Defence of Animals).
One of the residents who witnessed the crime, said on condition of anonymity, "The two youths kept hitting the dogs while they screaming in pain. Both dogs were later taken to the Bombay SPCA. One was alive for a couple of hours, while the other dog passed away the next day." Other residents said they were unable to identify the accused.
When we spoke to sub-Inspector Ruchali Sankpal of Bandra Police Station, she said, "The investigation into the case is currently going on. We are waiting for the post mortem report to arrive to determine exactly how the dogs died before we proceed further."
