MSEDCL says it will felicitate housing societies that pay 100 per cent of their power bills and pay it on time

MSEDCL says it will felicitate housing societies that pay 100 per cent of their power bills and pay it on time

The Bhandup Division (S-Ward) of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) will honour housing societies that perform good deeds like reporting faulty meters and getting them replaced or repaired and paying 100 per cent of their bills and paying them on time.

"This is a team effort. The idea came from our officers at the division and sub-division level.

We will either call the society members to our office or go to the societies to honour them in a public function. We will give bouquets and coconuts to office bearers.

This will encourage people to pay 100 per cent of their bills. It is just our way of appreciating the attitude," explained Dilip Dumre, executive engineer of the Bhandup Division.

Keepingu00a0A Check: Housing societies that report faulty power meters will also be felicitated.

"We aim to recover 100 per cent of billed amounts and do this without entering into disputes.

It is the responsibility of the society to report the faulty meters to our office. We promise to attend to their complaints immediately and replace the meters.

This will ensure there are no disputes over the bills in the future, so the customer is satisfied," said an MSEDCL official.

If the initiative meets with success, the MSEDCL may replicate it in other divisions as well.

"It won't be easy to carry this initiative through in the S-Ward, as 70 to 80 per cent of the area is slums.

Despite this we have managed to recover over 90 per cent of the billed dues from our customers here.

The balance seven to eight per cent is passed on to the next bill, so it is not really lost either," added Dumre.
