The Aarey police have solved the murder case of a 45-year-old woman whose body was found dumped in the colony yesterday morning. The police have arrested four accused, including a 25-year-old security guard from MIDC, who confessed to the crime and revealed the name of the others who helped him dump the body.
The accused have been identified as Sattyandra Parshuram Singh, 25, Ram Babu Phool Singh, 26, Anilkumar Ratankumar Singh, 24, and Rohitkumar Ram Vilas Singh, 22. All four worked at Andheri East. The deceased has been identified as Sharda Hotkar, a resident of MIDC, who used to work in the same building as the accused. Hotkar's 23-year-old son had filed a missing person complaint on Sunday.
During inquiry, it was revealed that one of the security guards had been harassing the woman for many months. She had not told her son as she was afraid he would get into a fight with the guard, a police officer said.
On Sunday evening, the guard had called her saying he had some toys and clothes for her grandchildren. When she met him, an argument ensued and he hit her on the head with a bamboo stick, killing her on the spot. He then roped in the other security guards to dump the body at Aarey.
All the accused have been booked under various sections of the IPC and will be produced in court.
