This is the first time in the history of Indian Railways that a general manager will personally sit and hear employees' problems.
Central Railway (CR) employees having an idea to improve the railways or have grievances can approach their newly-appointed GM B B Modgil.
Soon after his appointment, Modgil issued a circular asking their employees to come forward and discuss their complaints or suggestions directly with him
"The intention is to provide the railway staff a forum where they can raise their grievances personally before the GM. It may not always lead to solution of their problems, but will definitely help in venting their frustrations and making them feel heard. This is also to let them know that 'we care'," Modgil told MiD DAY on Thursday.

Mostly of the times, employees' problems go unheard. There is no restriction of the class of employees that can approach him. Any one can go and take an appointment a week before. Their problems will be heard every Tuesday between 3pm and 5 pm at the GM's office.
"One has to give their names and problems/suggestions to the Deputy GM seven days in advance and can directly meet him the following Tuesday.
"All problems will be compiled and kept on GM's table," said S Mudgerikar, spokesperson, Central Railway.
"We are sure to get the good response from the employees and this is a great step from GM," adds Mudgerikar.
