Congress corporators held a closed-door discussion with Mumbai Mayor Snehal Ambekar over the distribution of BMC funds 


Congress corporators held a closed-door discussion with Mumbai Mayor Snehal Ambekar over the distribution of BMC funds on Tuesday evening.

The Congress corporators were demanding that Rs 25 crore from the Mayor's fund be given to them. The mayor while giving an assurance that some funds will be allotted to them, hasn't taken a final decision on the matter.

Congress corporator Sheetal Mahtre along with Asif Zakeria had filed a petition in Bombay High Court last Monday after equal shares from the budget was not distributed to the corporators. In their PIL, they have made allegations against the BMC, Standing Committtee Chairman Yashodher Phanse and BMC Commissioner Sitaram Kunte.

The meeting held in the mayor's ante chamber was attended by Opposition leader Devendra Amberkar, Congress Corporators - Sheetal Mahtre, Asif Zakeria with Mayor Snehal Amberkar. Standing Committee Chairman Yasodhar Phanse and House leader Trushna Vishwasrao were also said to be present during the meeting.
