A police constable was arrested on Monday from Colaba area here on charges of rape.
Praneeta (name changed), (27) a resident of Borivili, met constable Deepak Chauhan (47), who was a telephone operator with MHADA office, in 2003. Her frequent visits to the MHADA office for her rented house in Borivili developed into a relationship with Deepak. After few days Deepak changed his profession and joined the police force. For five years they continued their affair.
Recently, the constable denied marrying her. Shocked over her denial, the victim lodged complaint with the police on July 24.
