A Police constable allegedly killed an 87 year-old man, brutally crushing his skull with a stone on Saturday. According to the relatives of the deceased Waman Mandhwi, constable Ravi Parab killed Mandhwi because he was refusing to sell his plot in Thane. Parab is now absconding. The constable reportedly wanted Mandhwi to sell his land to a real estate agent, from whom he would have received a commission.

At around 9.30 am on Saturday, when Mandhwi came out of his house, he found Parab with some friends seated nearby. Parab reportedly abused Mandhwi and told him to sell the land. When Mandhwi refused, a furious Parab picked up a stone and smashed it on Mandhwi's head. According to Mandhwi's relatives, Parab was seen near Mandhvi's house even the night before. He was reportedly drunk.Parad is now absconding and the police have registered a case against him under Section 302.
