There is good news for motorists who have been dealing with potholes and the uneven JP road below the 11.07 km Versova Andheri Ghatkopar (VAG). The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to repair and fix the potholes and uneven surfaces on the road. Construction work has already begun at some stretches on the JP Road in Andheri West.

However, there is bad news for motorists travelling towards Versova, Four Bungalows and the Azad Nagar area from Andheri station, as the stretch of road on the JP road junction from Navrang Cinema to SV Road, which is currently in bad shape, might remain closed for around two months due to construction work. Because of this, BEST buses and rickshaws will have to take the longer route via Bhardawadi lane. Another stretch that urgently requires repair work on the JP road, is the east bound stretch of JP road near Indian Oil Junction.

MiD DAY had reported several times on the pathetic condition of the JP road due to the ongoing Metro rail construction. MMRA executive engineer A N Bhasme told SUNDAY MiD DAY, "The entire road will not be concretised. Changes will be made Only those areas that have developed potholes and where the road is uneven, along the entire stretch. The work has already started and MMRDA will be spending Rs 4 crore on this work, which includes repairing patches on the entire 11.07 km stretch."
