The police have planned a grand tribute for the one-year anniversary of the 26/11 terror attacks with the help of Bollywood celebrities.
Hectic efforts are underway at the police headquarters to invite celebrities for the function and a special team has been formed to carry out the task, sources informed.
Commissioner of Police D Sivanandan said that the function will be held at Gateway of India from 6 am to 10 pm on November 26.
"Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle and Amitabh Bachchan will attend the function," he added.
A special prayer will be held to pay homage to the 179 people who died in the attacks.
Sources informed that the area surrounding Gateway of India will be cordoned off from November 25. Security arrangements are currently being reviewed.
More arms for cops
The state government will allocate an additional Rs 197 crore to modernise the police force. This is in addition to the Rs 36 crore spent on buying arms, so far.
A senior police officer said, "13 state-of-the-art bomb detection and disposal units will be set up as an immediate measure.
An estimated 39 armoured vehicles will be laden with modern arms to deal with terror threats."
