Keeping in mind the large number of revellers that flock to waterfronts in the city every year for New Year parties and the spate of crimes against women, Mumbai police wants to ensure that women feel safe this during the year-end celebrations.

For the same, authorities have decided to position additional policemen and lifeguards at Juhu beach.u00a0
Senior Inspector Madhukar Chaudhari from Santacruz police station said, "We will be deploying 100 policemen at Juhu beach. They will be patrolling the entire stretch of the beach on the night of December 31 in order to keep anti-social elements and eve-teasers at bay."
In addition, 28 lifeguards will be stationed at the beach. They will work in coordination with the police and report to them in case of any untoward incident.
Senior inspector Ajit Surve from DB Marg police station said, "We would be stationing 300 policemen on the entire stretch of Girgaum Chowpatty. Policemen will also be present in civilian dressing amongst the crowds in order to locate offenders and address any situation in which a women might feel threatened."
