Six painters fell to their death from the 14th floor, while three others were injured after the bamboo stilts they were standing on collapsed at a construction site for Riddhi Builders at Bhayandar (East). Police officials claim that the incident, which occurred at 3.30 pm was caused as the bamboo stilts were not tied properly.
The injured were admitted to Umrao Hospital, Mira Road (East).
A doctor at the hospital said, "When the patients were brought to the hospital, six of them were already dead, due to internal and external bleeding. Three workers, who are in the ICU, are suffering from multiple fractures and blood loss in addition to internal bleeding." pics/text: Pramod Dethe,
