EVEN as Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was called for questioning by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Delhi, a team of officials from the directorate carried out a raid at a money exchange and transfer firm in Lokhandwala yesterday.
"The raid was carried out as Chitresh Shrivatsav, who runs an event management company, used to get the singer's foreign money exchanged at the firm," said a DRI official.
According to eyewitnesses, a team of three DRI officials came in a private car at 6 pm and carried out a search till 10 pm. They went through all the documents to find records of transactions carried out by Shrivastav and Khan.
The singer was detained with $1.24 lakh at the Delhi airport on Sunday. The agency is also investigating whether there are any hawala links to the money. Shrivastav could not be reached for comment.
