A day after the hit-and-run, police nab Dadar Catering College student, who was driving the same car, at a nakabandi

Twenty-four hours after traffic constable Kishen Darde (40) was hit by a speeding car that he was trying to stop, the alleged driver was nabbed by the Juhu police in a nakabandi last night.

At around 10.30 pm, the police saw the Honda CRV (MHO1-AF-3825) near Juhu Scheme Road.

They chased the car and caught the boy near Rupal Sanghavi College. He was identified as Sabyasachi Nishad, a student of Dadar Catering College.

According to the Santacruz police, they have not arrested the boy yet. Said a police officer, "He has confirmed that he owns the car and was driving it yesterday, but claims that he did not commit the accident."

The cops are also trying to trace the other person who was in the car during the accident. As the boy was being escorted into the Santacruz police station, he told MiD DAY that he was innocent.


Meanwhile, Darde, who is in Nanavati Hospital, is in critical condition.
