An inebriated man jumped from his third floor residence in central Mumbai after he feared police action for a theft at a neighbour's residence, police said on Monday.

A resident of Ramshyam Wadi in Dadar, 40-year-old Francis Fernandes, had locked himself in his house yesterday after his neighbour alleged that he had stolen his medicine box, they said.

A vehicle from the Dadar police station went to the building to investigate the dispute when Fernandes jumped from the window, police said.

Fernandes, who was in an inebriated condition, was taken to a nearby hospital and was discharged today after treatment, they added.
