The last ten years of Indian aviation saw remarkable growth.

The Indian aviation industry which is the ninth largest aviation market has not only increased it's size in terms ofu00a0 daily operations but has also witnessed a major achievement by allowing the common man to board a flight which was almost impossible ten years back.

In the year 1999
If one looked at the aviation industry there were not more than six to seven Delhi bound flights but after ten years, there are more than 60 daily flights for Delhi.

Ashish Kumar, 45, a Delhi-based businessman said, "I remember those days the tickets were very costly and also flights were limited too, paying 6,000 and 7,000 for a ticket was big.
Things have entirely changed after ten years, now the tickets for Mumbai are available for 2,500 and even less.

We also have seen people with lower salaries boarding flights now, it's a real change and benefits the common man."
In 2009
MiD DAY spoke to two different people. One, working as a corporate manager and other a trainee who have boarded flights in the year 2009.
Ashutosh Mishra, 31,u00a0 heading the product department of a leading business group in Mumbai is a regular flier.

He says, "I am a regular flier from the past many years and it's really great to see the new look of the aviation sector where flights are available like the buses accommodating people from all classes."
Ayush Mehta, 26, trainee with the supply department has a low salary compared to a manager but he fulfilled his dream of boarding a flight in the year 2009.
"It was my dream that I go to Indore, my hometown by flight after getting my first salary. I made it come true in 2009. I believe this is a major achievement in the last many years which has directly benefited the common man."

Captain A Ranganathan, an aviation expert, says, "Though we have reached new heights in the aviation sector, lack of accountability in u00a0flight safety still remains. We had a number very close incidents, which could u00a0have become majoru00a0u00a0disasters so flight safety u00a0is a must." |
