Once a Shiv Sena loyalist and former mayor, Dr Shubha Raul ditched the party and joined hands with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) yesterday.
Shubha Raul had approached BJP first but then went to MNS
A third-term Shiv Sena corporator, Raul filed her nomination for the post of MLA from Dahisar constituency on behalf of Raj Thackeray's party yesterday.
She was openly upset when Shiv Sena re-nominated sitting MLA Vinod Ghosalkar. When she was asked about her reason to quit Sena, Raul said, "I had already intimated party senior leaders that a women candidate should be given priority in MLA election from the Dahisar constituency, as there are majority of women corporators in this area, but the party ignored," Raul added that, "Senior leaders from the MNS has been in touch with me for the past few months. I will campaign for women empowerment and environment issues."
