The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) caught three passengers from a flight returning from Saudi Arabia, carrying a massive amount of gold bars worth over a crore secretly, after receiving a tip-off


The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) caught three passengers from a flight returning from Saudi Arabia, carrying a massive amount of gold bars worth over a crore secretly, after receiving a tip-off.

They had arrived from Riyadh by Saudi Airlines SV- 748 were intercepted and recovered 47 gold bars. These gold bars of 10 Tolas totally weighed 5452 kg and are valued at Rs.1,32,65,806.

27 gold bars were recovered from Rehana Ghouse while 20 were intercepted from her daughter Ameena. They were concealed in a pouch made of socks and stitched into the undergarment worn by them.

"They have admitted to have done this on five previous occasions on the directions of the girl's father. Both the parents were however arrested," said a senior Mumbai Customs Officer.
