Subhash Mayekar, the trust's chairperson, said they want to ensure that devotees don't fall ill while waiting in the queue. "Very often, people faint due to the heat. We want to avoid that this time," he said.
Throngs of devotees are expected to visit the temple on the auspicious day and road diversions have been announced to avoid traffic jams. BEST has also provided two buses to ferry devotes from Dadar station to the temple and back.
600 cops Thousands thronged the Siddhivinayak Temple in the early hours of the morning. Security at the temple was beefed up by nearly 600 police personnel in addition to the 1,200 volunteers from the trust, to ensure orderly proceedings at the site.
Volunteers have also been deployed with bags to ensure that litter is cleared in and around the temple premises.
Extra queue routes have been formed this year to ensure smoother crowd control. "Since we have two pandals at Nardula Tank Maidan this year, it has helped to ensure that the crowd is scattered and not all in one place," said Mayekar.
