The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said the call by its employee unions to apply for mass casual leave on tomorrow is likely to cause some disruption of normal work and has advised people to complete their transactions on February 19.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said the call by its employee unions to apply for mass casual leave on tomorrow is likely to cause some disruption of normal work and has advised people to complete their transactions on February 19.

"Agitational programme is likely to cause some disruption of normal work of the Reserve Bank on that day, including the payment and settlement system," the apex bank said in a statement.

The Reserve Bank has advised the members of public to complete their transactions with the bank on February 19 itself.

The United Forum of Reserve Bank Officers and Employees has given a call to its members to apply for mass casual leave to press for restoration of updated pension scheme and other issues.

The main reason for the strike is an internal circular issued by the apex bank at the behest of the Finance Ministry to withdraw an updated pension scheme to pre-November 1997 retirees, All India Reserve Bank Employee Association Secretary K K Sharma said.

The bank has stated that such action on their part amounts to cessation of work and concerted refusal to work.
