A gang of six apprehended four angadias outside their office and tried to loot them; one employee was injured when the accused opened fire
In a case of a gang targeting Angadias, a firing took place outside the office of Purnima Angadia near Gulalwadi, where four of their employees were held at gunpoint by a group of six. While five members of the gang escaped from the spot, one was caught by locals and handed over to the police. One of the employees, Surtaji Lakamaji Prajapati (45) was hit on his palm during the firing.

The firing
The incident took place around 7 am on Thursday. The four employees were travelling from Gujarat and reached Mumbai Central Station with a parcel. The police escorted them from the station till Pydhonie, after which they were walking till their office at Gulalwadi Chaniya House.

According to reports, a silver-coloured Innova was parked about 300 metres from the spot where the employees were intercepted. There were six people in the car, out of which one stayed back. Three men holding bags held them at gunpoint, while two others guarded them. The main accused threatened them saying, "Jo bhi hai tumhare paas hume de do ni to goli chala dunga (Hand over the booty, or else I will shoot)".

When Prajapati tried to defend himself, the accused fired five bullets from his country-made gun; two bullets were shot in the air and three towards the victim, one of which hit his palm. When the gang tried to flee, locals held the shooter and started to beat him up, while the remaining four escaped in the getaway car.
According to eyewitnesses, the car went towards Mohammed Ali Road. The manager of Purnima Angadia, Mancharam Prajapati, filed the complaint about the firing at the VP Road police station.
The accused arrested has been identified as Mohammed Intezar Pathan, a native of Uttar Pradesh, with a history of similar cases of robbery. The police officials said, "Pathan was carrying a bag which contained Rs 1.3 lakh in cash, a PAN card and driving licence. The rest have escaped and we are currently investigating their whereabouts."
Both the victim and the accused (beaten up by locals) are admitted to J J Hospital and their condition is currently stable. Rajendra Chauhan, SPI of VP Road Police Station said, "Pathan carried 20 rounds in his pocket and a country-made pistol, which we have ceased."
Pathan's criminal history starts from 2004 and a total of 17 cases have been registered against him. Police Inspector, Shrikant T Desai said, "A similar case was registered in 2005 where Pathan was involved along with a gang of three." The accused has been arrested under sections 307, 341, 506, 394, 395 and 397 of the Indian Penal Court and other sections of the Indian Arms Act and Bombay Police Act.
