Complains in a letter to joint commissioner demanding pub owner and designer to be named in FIR

The secretary of the Association of Concerned Catholics (AOCC), Melywn Fernandes (45), has written to the Joint Commissioner of Police (Law&Order) Deven Bharti demanding action against the Dindoshi police who filed an FIR in the Goregaon Social case against 'unknown persons'.

In a letter sent on Friday, he stated that the police ‘misguided the Catholic community' by registering the complaint against 'unknown persons', and not against the pub owners and interior decorators. Fernandes threatened to ‘take out a morcha with the entire Catholic community' if his demand was not met.

"When the police conducted the panchnama inside the pub, why is the complaint filed against unknown persons? We thought the FIR was against the pub owner Riyaaz Amlani and the interior decorators; the FIR should have been filed against either or both parties."

'Transfer the case'
Advocate Joseph Sodder, the AOCC's legal expert, who has also written to the JCP's office, has stated in his letter that ‘it appears that the police are hand-in-glove with the accused... I request you to suspend the officers concerned.' He has also requested the JCP to transfer the ongoing investigations to the Crime Branch. Police personnel from Dindoshi Police Station were unavailable for comment despite repeated attempts.
