HC seeks details of funds for checking malnutrition deaths

The Bombay High Court on Thursday directed the Maharashtra government to file an affidavit as to how the funds given by the Centre for checking malnutrition deaths in rural areas, between 2003 to 2007, were spent.


The Bombay High Court on Thursday directed the Maharashtra government to file an affidavit as to how the funds given by the Centre for checking malnutrition deaths in rural areas, between 2003 to 2007, were spent.

A division bench of Chief Justice Swatenter Kumar and Justice DY Chandrachud also directed the principal accountant general of the Union of India to counter-check the affidavit to be filed by the government and submit a report within four weeks.

The court's order came on a PIL filed by Rajendra Burma and others on the issue of malnutrition deaths in Melghat area of Vidarbha.
