With the woman's crippled husband unable to make ends meet, their four-year-old child was pulled out of school (âFamily struggles as HIV+ bar girl languishes in remand home,' July 15). Meanwhile, Childline, an NGO, has also intervened, and is in the process of admitting the son into a private organisation, where his education and other requirements will be taken care of. While some of the generous benefactors showed willingness to bear the cost of the child's education, others have offered top pay for his father's medical expenses.
The 25-year-old woman was picked up by the police during a raid in Orchid Bar in Mira Road (East), after which she was sent to a remand home in Ulhasnagar. The police said that she has not been released in the past two months from the home, as some of her documents are missing.
Meanwhile, her husband, who is also HIV-positive and was injured in a road accident last year, has been at home since last August, with no livelihood. The child was removed from school owing to lack of funds.
