On Wednesday, many examinees will hurriedly finish writing the paper by 2 pm and dart to the auditorium to catch the action live on a big screen.
The ongoing exams at the city's colleges have been unable to keep some of them from giving in to the students' fervent demands to screen the India-Pakistan showdown in the Cricket World Cup on Wednesday.
As the home team takes on its arch-rival in Mohali tomorrow, KPB Hinduja College of Commerce will telecast the match for its employees and students on the college premises.
"As the scheduled examination will be over by 2 pm, we have decided to screen the match in the college for students and staff," said T Shiware, the college's principal.
Misbah Patanwala, a second year commerce undergrad, said, "We in fact asked the principal to make an arrangement to screen matches in the beginning of the World Cup in one of the college's halls where everyone can be accommodated.

If the principal arranges for a screening on Wednesday, we can watch the match together in the college."
However, since some colleges are also doubling as exam centres for the third year degree exams, they are unlikely to join in the big screen frenzy.
Manju Nichani, principal of KC College, Churchgate, said, "Our college is an exam centre for the third year degree exams.

So we cannot arrange for a match screening. Since the exam gets over by 2 pm, students can leave watch the match at home."
Kiran Mangaonkar, principal of Mithibai College, Vile Parle, had similar reasons to strike out screening. "Since the examination of students will get over by 2 pm, there is no point in giving an off to anyone.
We are not making any arrangement to screens in our college," she said.
