Undertaking wants to play an important role in Team India's victory procession, like it did after T20 World Cup win in 2007
Anticipating Team India's victory in the World Cup final today, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has kept its open-top buses ready to spice up the celebrations.
BEST authorities said they want to be an important part of India's victory procession.
Vijay Rath, the bus that was used by the victorious T20 squad, is now a tourist attraction. The vehicle was kept outside Brabourne Stadium yesterday.
When India won the T20 Championship in 2007, the undertaking had ensured that two open-roof double-decker buses were ready to welcome the victors at the airport.
Five buses have been spruced up and kept ready for today's post-match bonanza.
Ravi Raja, BEST committee member, said, "We have five open-roof buses, and all of them have been washed and cleaned as they may be required for the celebrations if India wins the World Cup."
In 2007, the buses were decorated and had posters of the winning team with captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's picture displayed prominently on the bus' front.
Two buses named Nilambari and Vibhavari are parked at the Colaba depot and the rest are at the Wadala bus depot.
These buses are made available for hire for birthdayu00a0 celebrations and for city tours. BEST general manager O P Gupta could not be reached for comment.
