MiD DAY has learnt thatu00a0the CCTV footage of the first floor of the ISKCON guesthouse at Juhu on Sunday night, when a 28-yr-old US national was allegedly molested, is faulty. The ISKCON authorities have handed it over to the police.
Temple caretaker Braj Premdas said, "The tape had some glitches and we were unable to watch anything particular when we ran it. We have now given it to be cops."
The CCTV was expected to help identify the molester, as the temple officials and guards were unable to see him. He hadu00a0 escaped by the time they heard the victim's screams and reached her room.
Niket Kaushik, DCP (Zone IX), confirmed this, saying, "We are trying to get them rectified and watch the footage."
Some staff members at the guest house suspect that the CCTV was not working on the night of the incident, but this could not be independently verified.
Meanwhile, The police have questioned over 20 persons in this regard and suspect an insider.
Braj Premdas said each room in the guesthouse has just two keys. "Our guests have one, while the other remains with the reception staff, and we are sure that none of our staff members is involved. The attacker did not come from the balcony, as the door to it was locked when we entered the room."
