CISF nabs peddlers smuggling narcotics in tummy, rectum

For years, drug peddlers have successfully used this modus operandi to slip past security checks with narcotics stored inside their stomach cavities, just minutes before aircraft doors would shut. However, all that is a thing of the past as CISF personnel, acting on intelligence reports, are on the lookout for such peddlers at airports.

A drug peddler's routine

1. Adica Cious swallows specially designed packets containing cocaine worth
Rs 6 lakh, moments before the aircraft doors are to shut

2. As the flight is ready for take-off, ground crew make announcements for Cious to board the flight

3. The guards at the security check detect the presence of narcotics in Cious' stomach and detain himu00a0

4. Cious is taken to Nair Hospital, where the narcotics are removed from his stomachu00a0u00a0

A letter from the Narcotics Control Bureau to the police and CISF states that drug peddlers recently apprehended in Kerala and Goa indicated that narcotic substances were being trafficked through domestic airports for private rave parties in the two coastal states. It further adds that the carriers would try to sneak in as last-minute passengers.

Nigerian nabbed

Interestingly, the CISF unit at Mumbai airport arrested Adica Cious (37), a Nigerian, for trying to smuggle cocaine to Goa on a 6 am flight on January 3. Cious had swallowed specially designed packets containing cocaine worth Rs 6 lakh.

S M Ghuge, senior inspector, airport police station, confirmed that the Nigerian approached the security check just a few minutes before the doors of the Goa flight were to be shut. "A boarding announcement for Cious had also been made due to his late appearance," Ghuge said.

Consumption

Intelligence reports indicate that the drug peddlers sell 10 per cent of the synthetic drug in the open market, 40 per cent at rave parties, and 50 per cent is sent to the cosmopolitan cities across the country.

Boss, peth cut karna padega!
After being arrested Adica Cious was taken to Nair Hospital. However, he remained mum throughout refusing to speak or co-operate with the police.
At the hospital, the police and doctors chatted about having to cut open Cious' abdomen to retrieve the cocaine packets. When he heard this, Cious panicked and started screaming. He agreed to cooperate with the authorities.
He volunteered to use the washroom to clear his stomach of the narcotics.
