Jagjit Singh critical after brain haemorrhage

Hours before Jagjit Singh's much-awaited performance at Shanmukhanand Hall for the 'Fever Unplugged' concert last evening, the ace ghazal singer (70) suffered a brain haemorrhage in the morning.

He was immediately rushed to Lilavati hospital where doctors performed a life-saving surgery on him. Dr Sudir Dagaonkar,spokesperson of Lilavati hospital, said Singh had been admitted in the hospital ICU.



Doctors at the hospital told MiD DAY that Singh was under observation and his condition was critical.

"He has a history of heart ailment for which he was on blood thinners and that might have triggered the haemorrhage," said a doctor from the hospital.

A representative of Fever Entertainment, which is organising the 'Fever unplugged concert', said, "Renowned singer, Shri Hariharan, very graciously agreed to be a part of the concert and performed along with Ustad Ghulam Ali. We wish Shri Jagjit Singh a speedy recovery and thank Shri Hariharan for his support."
