The Shiv Sena-BJP battle on social media continues. After putting up cartoons about the BJP's connection with the NCP, the Shiv Sena's IT cell officials have been circulating a list on Twitter and Facebook, which they claim is of people who had donated money in the chief minister's pet project, Jalyukt Shivar, but their cheques bounced.

Kamboj said people claim the list was issued by the Chief Minister's Office, but he checked with them (the CM's office) and no such list was issued by them. File Pic

The first name on that list is that of BJP leader and the richest MLA candidate in the 2014 polls, Mohit Kamboj. However, the chief minister's office categorically denied that they have come out with such a list. Kamboj claims that people are circulating a fake list to defame the BJP.

‘List is fake'
The list being circulated by the Sena and few other people, has the name of Mohit Kamboj first. He is in a controversy over alleged non-payment of dues to a bank. This made many believe that his cheque must have bounced, however, Kamboj claimed that he had never donated from his personal account to the CM's relief fund. "I never shy away from the truth. I never issued any cheque. People have been claiming that the list of names issued is from the Chief Minister's office, but this is not true. I confirmed from the CM's office, there is no such list issued. This is to defame BJP," said Kamboj. He added that he is taking legal recourse in the matter.

No list issued
Meanwhile, a senior official from the CM's office confirmed that no such list was issued. A senior official from the CM's relief fund also confirmed that no such list was issued from their office. "Every year when we get donations, we do see some cheques not being honoured. We write to them and the person who has donated money reissues a cheque. In the case of Kamboj, we hadn't received a cheque from him," he said.

Pet project
CM Devendra Fadnavis last year started the project Jalyukt Shivar, and asked people to generously donate to it. The project is meant to help the drought-affected regions in Maharashtra. The CM used to pose with donors and even tweet and post the picture on Facebook thanking them for their contribution.

This resulted in a major PR exercise for those who wanted to donate, and even have a picture taken with the chief minister. Many, including a wanted man, were seen standing next to the chief minister, donating money in his or her family member's name.

S Sawant, Yuva Sena's IT department's core committee member had tweeted, "Will CM @dev_Fadnavis book all those whose cheques towards #Jalyukt Shivar bounced due to lack of funds, for cheating the govt?"
Despite repeated attempts to contact Sawant, there was no reply.
