The High Court has appointed a three-member panel to monitor the Kala Ghoda Festival and submit a report within four weeks' time.
The committee which will be headed by Joint Commissioner of Police Sadanand Date, and comprise Deputy Municipal Commissioner Vasant Prabhu and lawyer Jamshed Mistry - was formed to see if the festival causes inconvenience to locals after a resident had complained of the problems the cultural event poses for residents of the area.

Date said, "The committee will be meeting for the first time on Friday and we will follow the court's instructions but the idea is to address the grievances of the locals." Additionally, the committee will be submitting a report on the feasibility of the venue as well.
The step comes after resident Berges Malu complained about the hardships the residents faced owing to the event. Acting on the petition, the court had passed an order stating that no musical instruments could be played from Rhythm House till Lion Gate. The court had also ordered that organisers of the event should put up at least 12 temporary mobile washrooms and better policing in the area.
