Days after the infamous Kalyan incident, wherein a cop was allegedly ‘immersed' in a lake by members of a Ganpati mandal following a tiff, another video has emerged that contradicts the incident. A viral video going around on Facebook claims that the sub-inspector fell into the lake during an argument with one of the mandal members and was not pushed in.

Nitin Degale, sub-inspector attached with Kolshewadi police station was posted at the Tisgaon Lake in Kalyan on September 7, where Ganpati immersions were going on. He saw members of the Jarimari Mitra Mandal creating a ruckus at the immersion site and asked them to move away. He had an argument with them as they were playing drums and refused to move away. Degale then removed his shoes and belt, which had his revolver and handed it to a constable. He then took the idol and was about to immerse it, when the mandal members started yelling at him.

Then, Degale took a lathi from his colleague and moved the crowd away. When that didn't work, he banged the stick on the iron barricades near the lake. In between, he had an oral tiff with a mandal member and caught his collar. Then the two started fighting and fell into the lake.

Later, when they came out, Degale was seen holding the collar of the members while the group stood around him. Later, the matter was settled. A senior officer from Kalyan division said, "We are not aware about the new video and will check to get its details and take suitable action once we see it."
