With 26/11 terror attacks still fresh in the minds of Mumbaikars, residents of suburban Worli are celebrating this Holi by burning an effigy of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terorrist caught alive in the strikes, in the traditional fire symbolic of the destruction of the evil.
The 45-foot effigy made of newspapers, waste and jute bags, residents said, presents the anger and distress of the people over the terror carnage that left over 160 people dead and injured 300 others.
Chandrakant Avghade, president of the BDD chawl in Worli which set up the effigy, said, "According to the normal practise, on the eve of Holi, an effigy representing all the bad and evil things is burnt.
"This year, we will burn Kasab's effigy as he and nine other terrorists had wreaked havoc in the city for three days."
