Kavita Karkare and Nirmala Carvalho have been honoured with Staines International Award For Religious Harmony.


Kavita Karkare and Nirmala Carvalho have been honoured with "Staines International Award For Religious Harmony."

Both women have championed the cause of secular India and have been heroic promoters of religious harmony.

Kavita Karkare is the widow of Hemant Karkare, chief of the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad who was killed in the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

Nirmala Carvalho has created awareness of human rights violations against women and other minority groups in India and throughout the worldu00a0with her writings and fearless reporting. She is a correspondent with the Italian based news agency on for the past four and a half years.
