The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) is planning to take stern action against schools and junior colleges across Navi Mumbai which are denying reservation to PAPs (Project Affected Persons).
The decision came after CIDCO received several complaints from PAPs and CIDCO employees that some school administrations were denying admission to their children. Following the complaints, a meeting was held between CIDCO MD Sanjay Bhatia and representatives of educational institutions last month. The institutes had agreed to abide by the clause.

Subsequently, on May 15, CIDCO had sent letters to the institutes asking them to furnish data of seats available in the new academic year and the number of seats reserved for children of PAPs. CIDCO officials revealed that only 8 out of 25 institutes gave the information.
"As per the clause (see box), schools have to keep 3 per cent, while junior colleges have to keep 5 per cent of their seats reserved for children of PAPs. "Action will be taken against the institutions that are not following the rule as per the law and the conditions mentioned in the agreement," said a CIDCO spokesperson.
