When the Koparkhairne police reached Dr Netra Talati's clinic on Thursday evening, they saw that she was still

wearing her gloves, the compressor machine was on and her body was lying just near the table, where patients are treated.

It's because of these reasons that the police believe that the dentist was killed by someone she knew. They believe she must've been treating the person when she was hit by a hammer-like instrument on the back of her head. And the fact that she was hit multiple times suggests that she was killed in anger.

'Some clues'

"We have not arrested anyone, but we do know that she had a scuffle with a person who was supposed to buy her dental clinic. But after the argument, the deal was cancelled," said a policeman.

Also, the two compounders who worked for Netra weren't at work the day she was killed. While one of the college-going compounders had worked for Netra for three months, the other had joined 15 days back. The police have been questioning one of them and are waiting for the other compounder to return from his village. But they don't believe that either had any reason to kill Netra.

The police say that the murderer knew that no one would be near the clinic that afternoon. A pathology lab and a bank on the same floor as the clinic are closed in the afternoon. DCP R D Shinde said, "We have certain clues."
