Hotheaded booking clerk thrashes commuter looking to buy a ticket; in the past he has even used his scooter helmet as weapon
The next time you land up at Kurla railway station and are unable to buy a ticket because the counter is shut, don't wander into the booking office ufffd even if you have the stationmaster's permission. Kurla resident Vijay Manthena did, and got thrashed.
Vijay Manthena was allegedly manhandled by booking clerk Sagar
Shinde at Kurla Station
The forty year-old ended up being a victim of Sagar Shinde's fury on Friday morning. Manthena reportedly reached Kurla station at 9.35 am to find the ticket counter of the booking office which dishes out season tickets, shut. He approached the stationmaster, who asked him to enter the booking office from a rear entrance. The stationmaster promised to call up the booking office, Manthena claims.
However, on seeing Manthena inside the office, Shinde, a booking clerk, lost his cool. Even though Manthena clarified that he had the stationmaster's permission, Shinde allegedly abused and roughed him up. "I told him I had had a word with the stationmaster, but he refused to hear me out. He abused me, and threw me out of the office," said Manthena.
Shinde is, in fact, known to be hotheaded. A case of non-cognizable offence was registered against him on September 18, 2009 for thrashing a commuter with his scooter helmet, when the commuter refused to give him a fresh-looking Rs 5 note.
The commuter, Ramdas Meghnad Das from Thane, was trying to buy a ticket from Kurla station. He apparently didn't have another Rs 5 note.
Shinde, however, claimed innocence. "It is true that these incidents have occurred but they were pre-planned. Manthena always enters the booking office to buy season tickets. His allegation is false." A complaint of non-cognizable offence has been registered against Shinde.
