Power-saving LED streetlights will be installed in areas under all local self-governing bodies in the state soon, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said at a function here today. The Urban Development Department of the state and the Union government-promoted Energy Efficiency Services Ltd today entered into an agreement in this regard.
The company will supply LED bulbs to municipal corporations, councils and nagar parishads by December 2018, said the chief minister. There are 349 local governing bodies including major cities in the state.
As many as 20 lakh bulbs will be replaced by LED bulbs which will save power and halve the electricity bill, Fadnavis claimed.
