Long weekend leads to traffic woes on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

According to the Expressway control room, over a lakh vehicles have passed the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in a span of 30 hours


Traffic crawled on Mumbai-Pune Expressway as holiday makers headed out of town to celebrate the long weekend. Most offices are closed on both Monday and Tuesday because of Buddha Purnima and Maharashtra Day. On Saturday morning, a bus on the expressway near Lonavala rammed into a car.

Fearing a backlash, the driver fled leaving the passengers in chaos. Later, another truck got stuck near Amrutanjan bridge. According to the Expressway control room, over a lakh vehicles have passed the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in a span of 30 hours.
