The resident of Dadar works on an oil rig called West Janus in Bintalur Sarawak (Malaysia) for 28 days and is then home for 28 days.

November 18, 2008 was one such day when Rovellen was in Mumbai. "I bought a lottery ticket near Dadar station and did not think too much about it. I used to buy these tickets frequently."

On November 19, when Rovellen checked the combination, "I knew I had won. There was such a welter of emotion when I saw the numbers. I had to settle down, calm myself and I had high blood pressure all day. At the back of my mind, I knew I had to take care of my health and not get too excited."

The money is due in a few days time, but Rovellen has already decided what to do with it. He will use the sum to fulfil a dream a three-BHK house in Dadar.

"We my wife, Pricilla, daughter, Venicia, and son, Brian, live in a rented house."

Rovellen says reactions from his friends and colleagues have been, "Great. I think I helped them in their time of need and today it is their blessings that have helped me win the lottery. "

'Continue working'

Rovellen adds, "I will continue working. It is a good job and I love working on the oil rig."

The lottery company's vice-president (VP) marketing G Bakshi says, "Rovellen will receive his money in a few days. As per rules, there will be a tax deduction at source (TDS) before he is presented with the cheque. We have made 65 crorepatis since inception, and five persons became crorepatis last year."

An ecstatic Rovellen's message, "Take a chance. I never thought I would win one day, but I did. Even if you spend Rs 10, you can be a winner."
