MNS officer bearer assaulted

Amar Mehta (35), vice president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Borivli division, was assaulted by a group of 12 men at 2.45 am yesterday


Amar Mehta (35), vice president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Borivli division, was assaulted by a group of 12 men at 2.45 am yesterday.

Mehta, the only Gujarati office bearer of the MNS, was on his way back home after inspecting preparations for a rally by Raj Thackeray at 6 pm today at Sahyadri Nagar, when 12 men armed with choppers and lathis started beating him black and blue. He sustained injuries in his back and chest and has been admitted to the Bhagat Nursing Home in Borivli.

A case has been registered at the Borivli police station. Mehta is known for his campaigns against illegal hawkers and vendors at Borivli.
