Activists of Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) who had attacked and exchanged blows with the security staff of the Mumbai University will be produced at the Esplanade court Wednesday morning


Activists of Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) who had attacked and exchanged blows with the security staff of the Mumbai University will be produced at the Esplanade court Wednesday morning. The activists attacked the university as it refused them entry into the campus to meet the authorities.

The workers wanted to meet the univarsity officials, including the registrar, to discuss certain academic issues when the university's security officials at the Fort Campus in south Mumbai.

The issue pertained to a recent circular of the university making Marathi language optional in subjects like Social Sciences. This was not acceptable to MNS and they wanted to lodge a protest and get the circular revoked.

The Azad Maidan police had arrested 15 MNS activists, including the MNS student wing leader, Aditya Shirodkar.
