The 20-year-old man picked up the child from outside her home, took her to the bushes nearby, where he forced himself upon her
A 20-year-old man allegedly raped a three-year-old girl on Tuesday morning. According to the Powai police who made the arrest, the man, identified as Mohammed Haider, lured the toddler with an ice lolly while she was playing outside her house.
He picked her up and took her to the dense bushes near their locality, where he attempted to rape her. When the child started screaming, Haider panicked and dropped her off near her house.
The child's mother then noticed that she was bleeding from her private parts. She took her daughter to the doctor, who said that the girl had been sexually assaulted. After locals confirmed that they had seen the child with Haider, he was arrested.
"We have arrested Haider for rape and other sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act," said Yadavrao Jadhav, senior police inspector of Powai police station.
