Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Shiv Sena promises meals at Rs 10

Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections on October 21, Shiv Sena released its polls manifesto on Saturday with numerous promises to woo voters.

The poll results will be declared on October 24.

Along with 1,000 bhojnalaya (eateries) across the state, that will serve quality food for Rs 10, the party also promised reduction in domestic electricity rates by 30% for up to 300 unit consumption, special bus services in villages, Rs 10,000 per year as financial aid to the needy farmers, farm loan waiver, fixing price of fertilizers, making individual farmers beneficiaries of crop insurance scheme.

"1,000'bhojnalaya' will be set up across Maharashtra. They will provide a nutritious meal at Rs 10. These centralised kitchens in every district will be managed and operated by women," said Aaditya Thackeray, while addressing a press conference with party chief Uddhav Thackeray.

He said special bus services would be introduced for students in villages who find it difficult to reach their schools and colleges.

Speaking on farmer issues, Thackeray said the party would provide Rs 10,000 per year to the needy farmers and ensure they are covered under the crop insurance scheme.

He also added they will ensure the price of fertilizers renains the same for five years.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is contesting the elections in alliance with Shiv Sena, while Congress is in alliance with Sharad Pawar-led NCP.
